PART 312. 1,3-BUTADIENE  
R 325.50091. Scope, applicability, adoption, and availability of standards.  
Rule 1. (1) These rules apply to all occupational exposures to 1,3-Butadiene (BD),  
chemical abstracts service registry no. 106-99-0, in all industries subject to the Michigan  
occupational safety and health act (MIOSHA), 1974 PA 154, MCL 408.1001 to 408.1094.  
(2) These rules replace all references to 1,3-Butadiene contained in Table G-1-A in  
General Industry Safety and Health Standard Part 301. “Air Contaminants for General  
Industry,” as referenced in this rule.  
(3) All of the following provisions apply as used in these rules:  
(a) A reference to 29 CFR 1910.133, “Eye and face protection,” in 29 CFR  
1910.1051(i), means General Industry Safety and Health Standard Part 433. “Personal  
Protective Equipment,” and Construction Safety and Health Standard Part 6. “Personal  
Protective Equipment,” as referenced in this rule.  
(b) A reference to 29 CFR 1910.134, “Respiratory Protection,” in 29 CFR 1910.1051(h)  
and (k), means General Industry and Construction Safety and Health Standard Part 451.  
“Respiratory Protection,” as referenced in this rule.  
(c) A reference to 29 CFR 1910.1200 and 1926.59, “Hazard Communication,” in 29  
CFR 1910.1051(l), means Construction Safety Standard Part 42. “Hazard Communication,”  
General Industry Safety Standard Part 92. “Hazard Communication,” and Occupational  
Health Standard Part 430. “Hazard Communication,” as referenced in this rule.  
(4) The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s regulations on  
1,3-Butadiene promulgated by the United States Department of Labor and codified at 29  
CFR 1910.1051, “1,3-Butadiene,” as amended on May 14, 2019, are adopted in these rules.  
(5) These federal regulations adopted in this rule have the same force and effect as a rule  
promulgated under the Michigan occupational safety and health act (MIOSHA), 1974 PA  
154, MCL 408.1001 to 408.1094.  
(6) The OSHA regulations adopted in this rule are available from the United States  
Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, via the internet at  
website www.osha.gov, at no charge as of the time of adoption of these rules.

(7) The standards adopted in this rule are also available for inspection at the Department
