February 14, 2024
To the Bureau of Professional Licensing Board Support,
The American Physical Therapy Association Michigan Chapter (APTA MI) membership
unanimously passed a motion at our membership meeting on 11/2/19 to work with the
Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and the Bureau of Professional
Licensing (BPL) to seek changing our current two-year license renewal to a three-year
license renewal.
The intent of our membership was increasing efficacy for both BPL and our members.
Further intent was to keep this potential change both budget and Professional
Development Requirements neutral.
APTA MI is pleased to SUPPORT adopting this change which would incorporate the
three-year (Triennial) licensing cycle for Physical Therapy.
Please include this letter of support in the Public Health Code – General Rules Public
Hearing that will occur February 15, 2024.
Sincerely,
Brian Gilbert, PT, MSPT, OCS, Cert. MDT, Cert. DN

Re: Support for Pending Rule Set # 2023-57 LR
Director Brown:
On behalf of the Michigan Academy of Physician Associates, I am writing to
express support for proposed Rule Set # 2023-57 LR. We appreciate your
thoughtful consideration of the impact on the 7,770 PAs practicing medicine in
Michigan and their patients. Updating the two year licensing cycle to three
years will bring some relief to these much needed medical providers.
We also appreciate your thoughtful consideration of the feedback we have
provided regarding implicit bias training requirements. Michigan PAs have
expressed much support for reasonable training standards. It is our hope that
these updated rules will provide health improvement for the patients within
our most impacted communities and throughout the State of Michigan.
With gratitude,
Thadd Gormas, Executive Director

RE: Memo of Support - Public Health Code – General Rules (MOAHR #2023 – 57 LR)
To Whom It May Concern:
The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) would like to thank the
Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) for providing AAMFT with an
opportunity to submit comments on the Public Health Code – General Rules. AAMFT
represents the professional interests of more than 72,000 licensed marriage and family
therapists (LMFTs) in Michigan and throughout the United States.
These proposed rule changes would update the marriage and family therapy licensing cycle from
every two years to every three years. AAMFT strongly supports this change as it would reduce
the administrative burden for both the Michigan Board of Marriage and Family Therapy and
marriage and family therapists in the state.
AAMFT would like to express strong support for these changes which will help streamline MFT
licensure in the state. Thank you in advance for your consideration of our comments. Please
contact me at pbarton@aamft.org if you have any questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
Patricia Barton

To whom it may concern,
On behalf of the Michigan Midwives Association, our board of directors and membership, we
would like to extend our support for the Public Health Code General rules change to incorporate
the three-year licensing cycle for licensed Midwives in Michigan. This is an appropriate update
to the licensing cycle for licensed midwives. We have no concerns and fully support this change.
