In accordance with the Open Meetings Act, 1976 PA 267, as amended, the Michigan  
Board of Architects met on September 13, 2023, at 611 West Ottawa Street, Upper-Level  
Conference Room 3, Lansing, Michigan 48933.  
CALL TO ORDER  
Jennifer Myers, Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 10:12 a.m.

NCARB Discussion  
Michael Armstrong, CEO, Kenneth VanTine, President Elect, and Caitlin Stromberg  
introduced themselves and gave a brief overview of their duties at NCARB.  
Armstrong stated that NCARB is trying to visit all state licensing jurisdictions. He stated that  
NCARB is working on being relevant and has made changes related to the examination,  
including removing the rolling examination clock, removing impediments from examinations,  
using PSI to administer examinations, and offering free practice examinations.  
VanTine stated that NCARB has many resources that the board and department should use.  
Myers stated that she volunteers with NCARB and she encourages other board members  
to do so as well.  
2024 Public Notice  
Myers presented the 2024 Public Notice.  
MacIntosh reminded the board members to mark the dates on their calendar and to  
remember to notify the Department in advance if they are unable to attend.

MacIntosh ran the election for chairperson.  
MOTION by Sanders, seconded by Fedele, to re-elect Myers as chairperson.

Chair Report  
Myers stated that she attended the NCARB Annual Business Meeting from June 12 – 15,  
2023.  
Department Update  
MacIntosh reminded board members that meetings are now recorded and that board  
members should be mindful of microphones and remember to speak clearly.  
MacIntosh stated that Bryan Modelski had been named Deputy Director for the Bureau of  
Professional Licensing.  
MacIntosh stated that the next New Board Member training would be held in early 2024,  
via Zoom. All members are welcome to attend.  
MacIntosh reminded board members to check their state email as it is the form of  
communication used with the department.  
PUBLIC COMMENT  
John Fick asked why reciprocity does not accept experience as recognized by NCARB  
as an education alternative.  
ANNOUNCEMENTS  
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held January 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at 611  
West Ottawa Street, Upper-Level Conference Center Room 3, Lansing, Michigan 48933.
