Title of proposed rule set:

Podiatric Medicine and Surgery - General Rules

3. Purpose for the proposed rules and background:

This rule set pertains to the licensure, relicensure, and license renewals of podiatrists.

The rules will be amended to provide clarity pertaining to the education, training, and testing

requirements, telehealth, and continuing education. The rule pertaining to the minimum English

language standard will be rescinded.

4. Summary of proposed rules:

The proposed rules amend and clarify standards for licensure, including the required length of the

postgraduate residency program. The rule establishing the minimum English language requirement

will be rescinded because that requirement will be included in the Public Health Code General Rules.

The standards pertaining to board-approved educational programs will be updated. Additionally, the

rules pertaining to the requirements and limitations on the accumulation of continuing education

required for license renewal will be amended for clarify and the information pertaining to the

standards applied to board-approved providers will be updated.
