3. Purpose for the proposed rules and background:  
The current acupuncture general rules pertain to the registration, reregistration, and registration  
renewal for acupuncturists.  
The rules will be updated and amended to comply with all requirements under the public health code,  
including the licensure, relicensure, license renewals, and continuing education requirements for  
acupuncturists pursuant to 2019 PA 140.  
4. Summary of proposed rules:  
The proposed rules amend definitions; add a telehealth rule; approve and adopt the national standards  
of competence set forth by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental  
Medicine (NCCAOM); provide the requirements for licensure, limited licensure, licensure by  
endorsement, and relicensure; provide the requirements for continuing education; and approve  
continuing education programs and activities approved by the NCCAOM.
