Veterinary Technician – General Rules  
3. Purpose for the proposed rules and background:  
This rule set pertains to the licensure, relicensure, and license renewals of veterinary technicians.  
The rules will be amended to clarify the requirements for licensure, licensure by endorsement,  
relicensure, license renewal, and continuing education. Accreditation standards will be updated. All  
rules will be reviewed and may be revised for clarity or to provide up-to-date information.  
4. Summary of proposed rules:  
The proposed revisions amend and add definitions used in the rule set, approve and adopt by  
reference the Veterinary Technician National Examination, clarify the requirements for licensure and  
licensure by endorsement, revise and organize the requirements for relicensure into an easy-to-use  
chart format, clarify continuing education requirements and approved continuing education activities,  
advise that a request for a continuing education waiver must be received before the expiration date of  
the license, and reorganize the rules for clarity and ease of use.
