Podiatric Medicine and Surgery - General Rules  
3. Purpose for the proposed rules and background:  
This rule set pertains to the licensure, relicensure, and license renewals of podiatrists.  
The rules will be amended to clarify continuing education requirements. New rule numbers need to  
be added to the rule set for organization and to comply with current drafting guidelines. All rules will  
be reviewed, revised, and redrafted as needed for clarity and to provide up-to-date information.  
4. Summary of proposed rules:  
The proposed rules amend definitions, approve and adopt the American Podiatric Medical Licensing  
Examination, update accreditation standards, clarify licensing requirements, amend and clarify the  
requirements for licensure by endorsement, eliminate the jurisprudence examination for licensure and  
relicensure, amend and clarify approved continuing education providers and requirements, and  
rescind and relocate some rules to comply with current drafting requirements and for organization and  
clarity.
