The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will hold a public hearing to receive public
comments on proposed changes to the Part 5 Residential Code rule set.
The proposed rule set (2019-118 LR) currently adopts by reference Chapters 1 and 2 of the International
Residential Code. The bureau is revising these rules to correct conflicts and inconsistencies between
the two chapters of the Residential Code, the Stile-DeRossett-Hale Single State Construction Code Act
230 PA 1972 and the Skilled Trades Regulation act, 407 PA 2016.
The authority to promulgate the proposed rules is found in section 4 of 1972 PA 230, MCL 125.1504 and
Executive Reorganization Order Nos. 2003-1, 2008-4, and 2011-4, MCL 445.2011, MCL 445.2025, and
MCL 445.2030. In addition, MCL 125.1504(6) of 230 PA 1972. These rules will take effect 120 Days
after filing with the Secretary of State. The rules are published on the Michigan Government web site at

9/17/2020 at 05:00PM.
