The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will hold a public hearing to receive public
comments on proposed changes to the Preservation of Electric, Gas, and Steam Utilities rule set.
The current rules are more than 30 years old and do not include provisions for modern virtual and
computer storage of records. The rule changes are intended to modernize rules for retention of records
for electric, gas, and steam utilities to include modern virtual and computer storage of records as
opposed to brick and mortar storage.
By authority conferred on the Public Service Commission by section 5 of 1919 PA 419 and Section 4 of
1939 PA 3. These rules will take effect Immediately after filing with the Secretary of State. The rules are
Register in the 3/15/2021 issue. Copies of the draft rules may also be obtained by mail or electronic
