The Department of State Police will hold a public hearing to receive public comments on proposed
changes to the Criminal Justice Information Systems rule set.
The proposed rules are changes to existing rules, drafted to clarify the requirements for access, use, and
disclosure of information in criminal justice information systems in light of changes to federal and state
law and standards since the last revision of the rules, to revise certain definitions to avoid confusion in
determining which systems and information are subject to the rules, and to remove the requirement for
certain fees.
These rules are promulgated by authority conferred on the Department of State Police by 1974 PA 163,
MCL 28.214, EO 2008-17, ERO 2008-2, and MCL 28.162. These rules will take effect Immediately after
filing with the Secretary of State. The rules are published on the Michigan Government web site at

Comments on the rules may be made in person at the hearing or by mail or electronic mail until
11/19/2020 at 05:00PM.
The public hearing will be conducted in compliance with the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act, in
