NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Rule Set 2020-89 ED
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Office of Special Education (OSE) will
conduct virtual public hearings to receive oral and written comments on proposed
Special Education Programs and Services rules (Rule Set 2020-89 ED). The MDE
OSE will review and consider all comments in preparation of the final version of the
rules.
The proposed rules are promulgated by the authority conferred on the
superintendent of public instruction by sections 1701 and 1703 of the revised
school code, 1976 PA 451, MCL 380.1701 and 380.1703, and Executive
Reorganization Order Nos. 1996-6 and 1996-7, MCL 388.993 and 388.994. The
proposed rules address eligibility for special education programs and services for
students with visual impairments and procedures for developing individualized
education programs for students who are placed in special education programs
outside of their resident districts. The rules will take effect upon filing with the
Secretary of State.
