The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs will hold a public hearing to receive public
comments on proposed changes to the Board of Midwifery rule set.
The proposed rules include: revisions to conform with stylistic drafting updates and define acronyms,
removing language pertaining to mandated human trafficking training that has sunset, changes to allow
the administration of tranexamic acid by intravenous piggy back or intravenous push and the
administration of epinephrine by the intraosseous route, updates to the dosages for vitamin K and
epinephrine, permits the administration of oral ibuprofen for postpartum discomfort, deletion of duplicate
formulary information to improve clarity, addition of requirements for telehealth services, changes to
license renewal and continuing education requirements to accommodate the transition from a 2-year
license cycle to a 3-year license cycle.

licensed midwifery sections 16145, 16148, 16186, 16201, 16204, 16287, 17105, 17107, 17111, 17112,
and 17117 of the public health code, 1978 PA 368, MCL 333.16145, 333.16148, 16186, 16201, 16204,
16287, 17105, 17107, 17111, 17112, and 17117, and Executive Reorganization Orders Nos. 1991-9,
1996-2, 2003-1, and 2011-4, MCL 338.3501, 445.2001, 445.2011, and 445.2030.
The proposed rules will take effect immediately after filing with the Secretary of State. The proposed
