The Department of State will hold a public hearing to receive public comments on proposed changes to the  
Disqualification from Ballot Based Upon Contents of Affidavit of Identity rule set.  
The purpose of these rules is to clarify required procedures regarding challenges to the contents of a  
candidate’s affidavit of identity.  
By authority conferred on the Secretary of State by section 31 of the Michigan Election Law, 1954 PA 116, MCL  
168.31.  
The proposed rules will take effect immediately after filing with the Secretary of State. The proposed rules are  
published on the State of Michigan's website at http://www.michigan.gov/ARD and in the 2/15/2025 issue of the  
Michigan Register. Copies of these proposed rules may also be obtained by mail or email at the following email
