MR. TOWNS: Good afternoon. My name is
Jeff Towns. I represent the Michigan Optometric
Association. My name is spelled J-e-f-f, T-o-w-n-s.
The purpose of my remarks today really
relates to whether any -- As the exemptions are being
debated, are there any considerations on waiver
exemptions that are being considered for low volume
prescribers, like those in optometry? Optometrists,
while they do prescribe and some prescribe more
frequently than others, the access to care issue for
patients who, should an optometrist choose to no longer
prescribe because of the cost associated with the
software involved in e-prescribing, that is going to
create an issue with access to care for their patients
