MS. SHALTRY: Good morning. This is a  
public hearing on the proposed administrative rules  
entitled "Licensed Midwifery". We are conducting his  
hearing under the authority of the Administrative  
Procedures Act, Public Act 306 of 1969, on behalf of the  
Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of  
Professional Licensing.

This hearing is called to order at 9:01  
a.m. on December 19, 2024, at the Ottawa Building, Upper  
Level Conference Center, Room 5, 611 West Ottawa Street,  
Lansing, Michigan. The notice of public hearing was in  
three newspaper of general circulation, including the  
Grand Rapids Press and the Flint Journal on November 14,  
2024, the Daily Press on December 4, 2024, as well as the  
Michigan Register, Issue #22, published on December 15,  
2024.  
My name is Jennifer Shaltry. I am a  
Departmental Specialist with the Bureau of Professional  
Licensing in the Department of Licensing and Regulatory  
Affairs, and I will be facilitating the hearing today.

Act, the public hearing is an opportunity for the public  
to present data, views, questions, and arguments in  
regard to the proposed rules. The Michigan Board of  
Licensed Midwifery will use the testimony and documents  
presented at this hearing to determine if any changes  
should be made to the proposed rules before they are  
adopted. If you have comments, please make sure they  
relate directly to the proposed rules. If you have  
questions regarding the rules, please submit your  
questions as part of your testimony for the Department's  
review. If you have suggested changes to the proposed  
rules, please include the specific reasons why the  
changes would be in the public interest.
