After being license for over a decade as a cosmetologist and attending a barber academy, outside of the state of
Michigan, I would like to voice that I strongly believe that the decision to no longer allow cosmetologist to use
clippers, will have a vastly negative impact on the cosmetology and barber community as well as the economy
within the entire state of Michigan. With the limited access to barber academy is in the state and the separation
between barbering licenses and cosmetology licenses (that I understand very strongly, after being unable to transfer
my barber license from another state) hundreds of businesses that employ cosmetologist to provide mens hair cutting
services will be out of business, thousands of cosmetologist that specialize in men’s hair cutting services will be out
of a job without access to continuing education.
